1. Register Your Domain

If this is your first time building a website, you’ll need a domain. You can skip to the next item on the checklist if you already have a domain. A domain name is your website name, e.g., twinscroll.co. It is the address of your website that people type in the browser to visit your website.

How To Buy A Domain?

You can use any domain registrar to register your domain. The popular domain registrars are GoDaddy, NameCheap, and DreamHost.

2. Disble DNSSEC (If applicable)

If you currently have DNSSEC enabled with your regstrar, you can find information below to disable it for this transfer. If you are not using DNSSEC or are unsure, please proceed to step 3.

Provider Specific Instructions

This is not an exhaustive list of how to update DS records in other providers, but the following links may be helpful:

3. Map Your Domain With Nameservers

Get nameserver names

  1. Head to your twinscroll account and select your My Details

  2. On My Detials, locate the nameserver names beside “Your Nameservers”

3. Keep this window open while you perform the next step.

Update your registrar

  1. Log in to the admin account for your domain registrar. If you do not know your provider, use ICANN WHOIS.

  2. Remove your existing authoritative nameservers.

  3. Add the nameservers provided in your account. If their names are not copied exactly, your DNS will not resolve correctly.

Verify changes

Wait up to 24 hours while your registrar updates your nameservers.

When your domain is Active:

  • You will receive an email from us.
  • Your domain will have a status of Active on the My Details page of your account.
  • Online tools such as https://www.whatsmydns.net/ will show your previously-assigned nameservers (most of these tools use cached query results, so it may take longer for them to show the updated nameservers).

Re-enable DNSSEC

When you updated your nameservers, you should have also disabled DNSSEC at your registrar.

You should now enable DNSSEC to protect from domain spoofing.
